The KT-78 is an older King transponder. The KT-78 family of transponders are King's lower power, lower priced models. With 150 watts of transmission power, the KT-78 may operate up to 15,000 feet. If you don't fly higher than that, and don't travel a great distance from ATC radar, this lower-powered transponder may be exactly what you need. Why pay more?

You may also be interested in an Encoder to use with this KT-78. When installed with an Encoder, the KT-78 will report both your position and altitude to ATC (Mode C).
